Tactile and Interactive Learning Materials
for Inclusive Biology Education

Accessible knowledge for everyone:
Blind, visually impaired, and sighted people.

BioTact is an EU-funded Erasmus+ project
developing accessible learning materials for biology education, specifically designed for blind and visually impaired students.

By the end of 2028, the project will deliver an educational framework
and a comprehensive collection of learning materials, including:

BioTact Graphic Animal Cell

600
Tactile Graphics

The collection includes key biology graphics for all grade levels. They are carefully tailored to user needs through testing by blind users.

3D Model Animal Cell

100
3D Models

These 3D models provide accessible representations of complex biological concepts. They can be downloaded for free and printed independently.

Additional Features in the Database

Users can also benefit from extra features in the ProBlind database – such as automatic translations and integrated interactive functions.

Inclusion in Biology Classrooms

In science education in particular, there is often a lack of accessible, equivalent materials. This is where BioTact comes in: The project team consists of experts in education, tactile graphics, and 3D modeling, working together with blind collaborators and testers.

All materials will be available for free in the database
problind.org – with automatic translation features into multiple languages.

An international project,
in collaboration with partners from four countries:

Project Partner Profiles

The Inventivio team coordinates the project, develops interactive learning materials, and manages the technical implementation with the Tactonom Reader for more interactive learning.

Biology teachers contribute their hands-on classroom experience.

3D experts create precise models of biological structures such as cells, organs, and processes.

With the “Share” database, the ProBlind association provides a platform where tactile graphics and 3D models can be uploaded and shared worldwide with blind and visually impaired individuals.

Accessibility specialists design and test tactile biology graphics.

How to Access the Learning Materials?

All graphics, 3D models, and collections are available for free at www.problind.org via the search tag “Biotact.” You only need a free user account in the database.

Your preferred language isn’t available? No problem – the materials can be translated automatically.
